Trip to Bend

The week before Matt's "Transition" week occurred, he took his Boards and then had a couple days off. So, we decided to go to Bend and celebrate his completion of second year and his first Father's day!

I think we all wished we had an even longer break because we had such a wonderful time, but we definitely maximized what we had. We stayed in downtown Bend and enjoyed Drake park, the local shops and restaurants, and lots of hikes. Below are many pictures from our first trip away from home with baby Beckett.

On Father's Day we went to Smith Rock State Park for a nice steep hike and amazing views of Monkey Face and other great rock climbing areas. A kind woman warned us not to attempt it with our baby, but we cautiously went anyway.

Or maybe not so cautiously...

We stopped along the way for a small snack and Beckett ate too!

This is Monkey Face behind me.
We also saw a snake along the way!

Our first night in Bend we made our way around Drake Park.

And had a delicious dinner at a local brewery with our well-behaved little Beckett in tow.
We also hiked another local trail in Bend.

Having a picnic in Drake Park on a beautiful sunny day.

We also decided to take Beckett in the pool for the first time. Thank you Laura for the adorable swimming trunks! Although he found it a little chilly in the main pool, the hot tub was only luke warm, which Beckett thought was just right. Check out the video below to watch him float!

What Beckett is Learning

Beckett is officially 8 weeks old (as of Friday the 25th) and is learning more all the time. He started smiling regularly at us, he is trying to suck on his hand and he is getting stronger and stronger at holding up his little head.

Michelle Fortner kindly gave us the below mobile and Beckett was initially fascinated by it. Grandma was showing it to him from a distance.
Then he decided he loved it! This is the first smile I captured on camera!!

And this is the second smile! Beckett loves his Grandma.

There is nothing Beckett loves more than listening to his papa read to him. He is entranced by his daddy's voice.

This is baby Beckett doing a little tummy time on his changing pad. As you can see, he's beginning to get some lift off with his head. I read somewhere that his head actually weighs 2/3rd's of his entire weight, so this is quite an accomplishment.

Adorable Beckett

The below pictures are just some of the few we've taken over the last couple weeks, that I think are completely adorable. Excuse us if we're biased, but we think Beckett is pretty handsome!

This is little Claire Fortner smiling for the camera. She gave Beckett his first kiss from an older woman!

Beckett loves to sleep with his arms above his head.

Isn't he precious!

A Day at the Beach

Grandma, Beckett and I decided to make a trip to the beach one day when it was finally sunny. Beckett put on his favorite beach outfit and we had a great time. He was extremely well behaved as this was his first long drive and slept the whole way there and back.

This is Beckett at lunch. He wasn't interested in eating fish with us, so he took a nap.

Isn't this a cute beach outfit?! And look at the shoes...

Thank you for taking us to the beach Grandma! We had so much fun.
