March 16th 2012 - A Big Day

March 16th was a big day for us because it was Match Day and the 20 week ultrasound appointment. We started off the morning at 8:30am at OHSU where all of Matt's medical school class received their envelopes telling them where they would match for their residency programs. It's an odd process where the students rank their top schools and the schools rank their applicants and then a computer matches them up. The anticipation is pretty overwhelming, but in the end, it worked out pretty well for us.

Matt matched at his #1 choice, Providence Milwaukie and we were so happy! This meant we didn't have to move and he got the top program of his choice. We cried a little, regrouped, and then headed to the doctor's appointment where we had a healthy looking ultrasound.

We decided to go out to dinner as a family to open a little card telling us the sex of baby #2 (our ultrasound tech was kind enough to print a small picture for us to open later). We sat together enjoying mexican food at Chevy's and found out Beckett is going to have a little sister!

While everything was a mix of emotions, the day ended up being true success and we are happy to know of bit of our near future and can start making a few more plans. Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and well wishes on this important day.

Baby Sister! When asked, he said he wants to name her "Elmo"

Two big envelopes

This is big!

Say cheese!

They were a little excited we would be staying in Portland:)

Beckett the Ring Bearer

Tom and Jodie Watson got married at the beginning of March and invited little Beckett to be thier ring bearer! He did an amazing job and literally sprinted down the huge isle with the ring pillow. He was incredibly handsome dressed up in his mini tux and he and his pappa looked pretty good together, since Matt was a groomsman as well.

Beckett has learned to smile, or squint and try to smile:)

Here he is running down the isle

Congratulations Tom and Jodie!

My handsome guys

He was moving so fast, it was a blurr:)

He "fist bumped" or high-fived all of the guests

Nothing more cute!

And one last smile for the road (this was his fitting)

Happy Birthday Eliana

The weekend of Eliana's birthday, we headed up to Seattle and got to celebrate her party with her. Grandpa John and Nonna came too and it was a wonderful visit. The party and playing were so much fun and we got to go out to an amazing family style Italian restaurant too! Thank you for hosting us Nate and Erin, we had a wonderful time.

Birthday dinner

Hands up everybody!

He was a little scared he was going to get a hug around the neck from his little cousin. She's so sweet and just wants to give him love, but he's a little hesitant:)

And this is the aftermath...
